DMS/LHS Principal's Message: DRIVERS EDUCATION: We are once again able to offer drivers education to qualified students this spring. In order to qualify students must have a learners permit, but not a license prior to the start of the class. The class is scheduled to begin in March. The cost depends on how many students take the class. We anticipate the cost being $150-200. The classroom portion of the class will be one or two evenings a week for the remainder of the school year. There will be a mandatory meeting for parents and students here at the high school on Wednesday, February 24 at 6 pm. Information sheets on the drivers education program are being sent home with first semester gades to all freshman and sophomore parents. If you need more information please call Ms Meize here at the school, 947-2287. This is an important program. It enhances the safety of our students and also provides lower insurance costs for parents and students. We encourage all eligible students to participate in drivers ed! UPCOMING CALENDAR DATES: We will be having a staff training day on Friday, February 12, 2010. There will be no school for students on February 12. Some other upcoming important dates: Monday, January 18, Martin Luther King Day-no school Monday, January 25, Grade Day-no school for students Friday, February 12, staff training day-no school for students Monday, February 15, President's Day-no school |
Lakeview High School serves a relatively stable district, a small town where education and community service are valued. The college scholarships available from the educational trusts of Bernard Daly, Collins-McDonald, and Burt Snyder have promoted advanced education in this isolated Eastern Oregon setting. Community service is expected and encouraged. Lakeview High School provides educational experiences to enable students to be life-long learners and to make positive contributions to the communities in which they will live. While at LHS students develop skills in critical thinking, problem solving, literacy, research, and computation. They also accumulate a broad basis of general knowledge and skills that enables them to be contributing citizens in a democratic society. Students' schedules include a variety of courses and participation in co-curricular activities. Teachers are life-long learners who model the skills and attitudes that they promote in their students. Lakeview High School takes pride in its commitment to having a personal interest in each of its students. Students are expected and encouraged to reach their individual potentials; obtain counseling with academic, social, or personal concerns; model positive attitudes and appropriate behaviors; value wellness; and maintain healthy lifestyles. |
