Mrs. Gretta is our new preschool teacher! She comes to us with over 23 years of experience in education. Ms. Gretta has taught preschool, kindergarten, 2nd grade, and 3rd grade. Additionally, she has been an instructional assistant, an intervention specialist, a reading specialist, a teacher trainer, a mentor and an academic coach. Ms. Gretta has training in teaching English as a Second Language and experience in starting programs from the ground up.  Additionally, she has supervised staff and worked under numerous grants. We are SUPER excited to have Ms. Gretta heading up our Honker Preschool program. 

Ms. Kim comes to us with a long list of references who attest to her kindness, patience, calm demeanor, flexibility and caregiving qualities. Prior to trying her hand at preschool, Ms. Kim was a customer service representative, a manager, a cashier, a waitress, and a caregiver. She raised her kids and their friends and a few neighborhood kids too. Ms. Kim is excited to help teach and care for our littlest learners. 

Ms. Bella joins our team from a combined work history in child care and the food industry. For the past three years, she has nannied in the evenings for a family with two children. During the day, she worked as a crew member at a fast food restaurant and then as a manager at a sandwich shop. This lady knows how to work! Her references attested to her loyalty, hard work, reliability, calm nature, and kindness. When I spoke with the children that Ms. Bella nannied, they begged me not to hire her and to send her right back to their home... immediately! I was sad to tell them we were keeping her. 

Ms. Ashanti is a proud graduate of Lakeview High School. She came to our childcare center through the summer work program where she served as a summer childcare provider/camp counselor. During her summer with us, she found a new love for working with children. Her rapport with students is remarkable - kids flock to her! It helps that she is an excellent artist and enjoys sharing her love of art with children. Ashanti is also a wonderful combination of sass and growth mindset. She is young and vivacious! Her energy and laugh are contagious. 

Ms. Lynnette joins our team with a wealth of experience and fantastic ideas! She is also remarkably kind and tenderhearted. Her love of crafting and cooking have brought tons of yummy and creative fun to our after school care program. Lynnette is a Mom, a Grandma, and a dog mom too! She has an amazing ability to find the beauty in every child and enjoys coming up with ways to keep them busy and challenged in our after school care program. One of her favorite things to do is help children with their homework... "Let's get it done before your parents come!" Parents love it! Kids, not so much. lol. 

Mr. Joel is a Community Care Specialist for our district. In this role, Joel helps to connect students and families to resources. He spends a bit of each morning in our preschool getting to know the students and families. His goal is to be approachable. He wants students and families to feel they can come to him for help with anything that may be keeping them from fully accessing education in Lakeview - food, clothing or housing insecurities, mental health issues, transportation, etc. He also helps support our Spanish speaking students and families with communication and language acquisition. Additionally, Mr. Joel serves as a wonderful male role model for our students who don't have one in their life.
