March Madness came to life in Mrs. Young’s 5th–7th grade classroom!
Students took on the challenge of building their very own Dream Team, but this wasn’t just about picking favorites. Each team was carefully selected using real data, statistics, and CODAP graph analysis to evaluate player performance and make strategic decisions. Students had to analyze ideas such as, how the stats of each player balanced their team, and where on the court would each player be their best based on the data. Even more important, what qualitative information is needed to balance the quantitative data in front of them?
To make it even more impactful, we welcomed special guest Mr. Carter, who helped students evaluate their teams and brought the numbers to life by teaching the real-world statistics behind the game of basketball.
The result? Engaged minds, critical thinking, and a whole new appreciation for how math, technology, and sports all connect.
Amazing work by these students, we have some future analysts in the making!
