Last week, we had our Quarter 1 Assembly and gave out several awards! We recognized students for their participation in athletics/activities, perfect attendance, and a variety of different positive character traits! The assembly was a lot of fun and proved what we already knew, our LHS students are AMAZING!!!

It was an incredible fall sports season at LHS. We want to take this time to thank everyone who contributed to all events. We hosted 31 competitions and sent our athletes to 43 away contests. It takes a huge team to make all of this happen and we couldn't do it without all of our dedicated staff, volunteers, fans, and community members. Highlights: - Volleyball made it to playoffs for the first time in 14 years, making it to the second round. - Cross Country hosted a home competition at the Ski Hill and it was a major success. - Football hosted not only the first round but second round of playoffs, finishing their season in the top 8 at the 3A level. - Volleyball had enough girls come out for the team that we were able to have a JV and JV2 team. - Girls Varsity Cross Country placed #10 in state. We are excited to kick off our winter season and hope you will come out to support your Honkers!

Shout out to Kyle Deiter for his hard work in the revitalization of the LHS Library. Using a grant he has restructured the library, purchased new furniture and books, including an entire book case of books written in Spanish. In addition to many other projects, the advanced art class will be painting genre posters and our shop class will be building the frames for them to be hung in the library. Awesome work and collaboration LHS!

Lake County School District students are so lucky to have such a great community! Two weeks ago seniors from the career college readiness course completed a job shadow with a professional of their choice. Owen Graham and Adrian Stubbs followed Justin Miles of the Fish and Wildlife. They surveyed trout in streams and cataloged the forest fire’s effect on stream health.

Our community is amazing. Students from the career college readiness course completed their job shadows on Tuesday, October 24. Rale Harmon spent the day with Adam Gonzalez learning the ins and outs of being a mobile mechanic. To start the day Adam and Rale diagnosed a couple of mechanical problems on community members equipment then ended the day with a starter replacement on a hearse.

Lake County School District students are so lucky to have such a great community! Last week seniors from the career college readiness course completed a job shadow with a professional of their choice. Benny Alves spent the day with the Surprise Valley Electric crew where he learned all about the industry and some of the things they do such as replacing power poles or building new power lines. When they got back to the shop they even helped him through the process of climbing a pole they had set up.
