October Newsletter for LCSD #7 Elementary Schools

Please come out to support our girls soccer team!

Hello Parents/Guardians of Lakeview High School and Daly Middle School Students:
We have an event coming up on October 4th and 5th, 2023 where a guest speaker will be coming to do a presentation on internet safety. Some of the topics that will be covered include:
Social Media Safety
Cyberbullying
Addiction
Sexting/Sextortion
Video Games
The assembly will be one hour long and there will be a separate assembly for middle school students and high school students. There will also be a parent information night for parents and families to get this information as well (information will be sent home in the mail and was posted to our website earlier this week).
If you DO NOT want your student to attend this assembly, please obtain an opt out form from the LHS front office and return it to the school no later than October 3, 2023. You only have to sign and return the form if your student does not have permission to attend.

What's better than a good volleyball game and a baked potato bar?

Apple day fun!
The K-1 class at Union celebrated Apple Day in the best way, with an Apple party! Today was Johnny Appleseed’a birthday! Students have studied about Johnny Appleseed and his legacy, parts of an Apple, the life cycle of the Apple, and today they were able to taste test different Apple treats including: apples (green, yellow and red), apple pie fresh from the oven, apple juice, apple cider, apple sauce, and apple chips! The class graphed their favorite with the winner being apple pie!

It's GAME DAY! We are continuing to spread Honker Spirit at the Elementary!
Tonight the Lady Honkers take on #5 Cascade Christian!

What are kids exposed to online? You might be surprised by what you learn.
We are excited to bring in an expert for both our students and parents to help inform our parents and protect our students.
Please come down to a free presentation from an experienced internet safety expert. She has worked with both federal and local law enforcement agencies in the fight against internet crime against children. She has presented to well over 30,000 students and parents across western Washington.
October 5th, at 6pm in the LHS gymnasium. Please contact LHS with any questions.

Come out and support our Honkers at their home games!
XC had a great time at their meet in Boise! Visit Athletic.net for each of their results.
Volleyball and Football are rolling into this week undefeated!

Attention Parents:
Are you worried about your child’s online presence? Are you concerned about interactions your teen is having with people online? Do you want to know more about how to keep your child safe, while allowing them to express themselves with social media platforms? Then please come down to a free presentation from an experienced internet safety expert. She has worked with both federal and local law enforcement agencies in the fight against internet crime against children. She has presented to well over 30,000 students and parents across western Washington.

Come out and support these girls! Still undefeated in their league with a 3-0 record!

The lack of officials in sports has a large impact on our ability to run events as scheduled here in Lakeview.
This is even more of a reason to shout out these amazing young men from LHS who stepped up to help at our Pop Warner games.
Thank you Cole Bingham and Hunter Albertson! We appreciate you!

The Union Elementary students experience harvesting corn first hand. Local Paul Albertson invited the school to his corn patch and pick however many ears of corn they like. All together, the school students picked 676 ears!! Fresh corn will be on the lunch menu soon! Thank you so much Paul!

We had a great time today with the Portland Trail Blazers at our school!
We hope to see a great turn out tonight downtown from 4pm-6pm!!

WOW! What an incredible week for Honker Sports.
There are too many "thank yous" to dish out for all of the parent and community support that went into last week. It takes a village to make these events successful and man are we blessed with an incredible group of individuals!
I would like to invite the community to join us in Honker Spirit Fridays!
Another week on the books, let's do it again Honkers!

We have new faces at Fremont, Hay and Union Elementary. We are so excited to have them as part of our staff. We hope you are too! Here is a little information on each of them.
