LHS seniors are finishing up their year learning some important life skills. On Tuesday, Lake Health District EMS came to the classroom to teach life saving skills like CPR and basic first aid. Students also toured the ambulance. On Wednesday, Les Schwab was at the school and students learned how to change a tire and jump a vehicle. We are so lucky to live in Lake County where our entire village wants to be a part of raising our kids.

It was a great turn out for 4th-6th grade Science Fair at Union. Thank you to everyone who took the time to come out! I think the best part is watching the older students step into the teaching and leading role for our younger students. 4th-5th prompt: Think of some "I wonder..." questions, choose one to research. Create a slideshow and a 3D model. 6th Grade: traditional science fair

First grade listened to vinyl records in music class and learned all about how record players work. This was a fun lesson in music-listening history!

On May 7th, Lake County School District #7 had the pleasure of hosting Dr. Charlene Williams, Director of the Oregon Department of Education, along with members of the Early Literacy Team. During their visit, the team toured kindergarten through 3rd grade classrooms, where they observed exemplary reading instruction in action. Dr. Williams is pictured with Tara Counts, one of our dedicated elementary reading teachers, during the visit. In another highlight of the day, Dr. Williams and Deb Watts posed in front of a banner celebrating Ms. Watts as one of Oregon’s Regional Teachers of the Year—a proud moment for our school community. We were honored to showcase the hard work of our educators and the positive impact of early literacy programs. Thank you to the Oregon Department of Education for their visit and continued support of early education!
