LHS SENIOR PROJECT SPOTLIGHT - A new requirement for Lakeview High School seniors is a senior project. The following is a spotlight on one of the student led projects. Keira Merrifield is working with the Lake County Fairgrounds and the Lakeview Volunteer Fire Department and has taken on the responsibility of Fill The Boot. She is depending on the community to help raise money for the July 4th fireworks show in 2025. Keira will have the boots out at businesses around January 1, 2025. Celebrating the 4th of July is very important to Keira because her grandpa put on a fireworks show every year. Although he passed away in 2016, she feels that Lake County still deserves to see a great fireworks show every single year. So when you see those boots in the local businesses, please donate your change to a good cause. Let's make this year the 4th of July the best yet!

LHS and DMS had the opportunity to participate in Modoc Sherriff Department K-9 training alongside our local Lake County Sherriff Department . The departments brought 3 K-9 dogs in training to practice their skills in the hallway. Once the training was completed, students had the opportunity to visit with the officers to learn more about the dogs, as well as enjoy dog pets!

🌟 Lakeview FFA at the 97th Oregon FFA State Convention! 🌟 This past weekend, 17 FFA members, 2 FFA Advisors, and 2 chaperones attended the 97th Oregon FFA State Convention in Redmond, embracing this year’s theme: "Light the Way." Our chapter had an incredible experience celebrating achievements, competing, and growing as leaders! Chapter Highlights: 🌟 Superior Chapter Award – We met National Quality Chapter Standards and completed impactful activities to earn this honor! 🌟 Oregon FFA State Degree Recipients – Congratulations to our members who achieved the highest state-level FFA degree! • Lola Simms • Raelynn Severson • Miles Maxwell (with his sister standing in for him) • Madison Wells • Haley Neider • Cecilia Woodworth 🌟 3rd Place in the State – Ag Advocacy Award! Our chapter’s commitment to agricultural education through projects like our Pumpkin Patch, Ag in the Classroom, Elementary Ag Workshops, Cattlewomen’s Ag Day, and Ag Awareness Day earned us this recognition. A huge shout-out to Jenna Dillavou for her leadership as Ag Literacy Committee Chair and Saya Lally for their outstanding work on our presentation and brochure! 🎨📸 FFA State Art Show For the first time in a while, Lakeview FFA had members enter the FFA State Art Show While no one placed this year, we are incredibly proud of Leah Lym, Paige Janes, and Kara Keck for showcasing their creativity and talent. 🎨 Leah Lym – Traditional Art (Mixed Media) featuring koi fish, blending colors and textures beautifully. 📷 Paige Janes – Equipment/Vehicle Photography, capturing her brother haying and the hard work of agriculture. 🎨 Kara Keck – Traditional Art (Mixed Media) featuring a dog, displaying great artistic skills. LHS SENIOR PROJECT SPOTLIGHT - A new requirement for Lakeview High School seniors is a senior project. The following is a spotlight on one of the student led projects. Kelsie Davis plans to make a lasting impact on her community by creating a memorial scholarship in honor of Garrett Dunk, a beloved student-athlete who tragically passed away earlier this year after a hard battle with leukemia. The Garrett Dunk Memorial Scholarship will be awarded annually to a graduating senior at Lakeview High School who exemplifies the qualities Garrett was known for. Through her senior project, Davis hopes to provide financial assistance to a deserving student while also ensuring that Garrett’s memory continues to inspire others for years to come.

LHS SENIOR PROJECT SPOTLIGHT - A new requirement for Lakeview High School seniors is a senior project. The following is a spotlight on one of the student led projects. Brooke Frederick’s project involves Lake County history. Don Robinson, with the Robinson Ranch, has donated a wagon to Lake County for display purposes. This wagon has been used in his family for four generations including his great grandfather WT Cressler. Frederick has been helping county official Dave Berman to design the display for this wagon on county courthouse property. Frederick went before the Board of Commissioners to get approved for this project and is looking forward to seeing the finished product.
